I’ve been a huge fan of rechargeable “ambient” light (aka the Candela line) for years, so I wasn’t surprised when I instantly connected with the chunky, warm looks of the Luau lamps. I think I want to hug them.
From Vessel. $199.

I’ve picked up this little solar powered guy at a shop on Haight Street years ago and he’s kept me company on my desk every since (still works, too!). Wins on adorable points and always brings a smile to my face. Nicely packaged for gift giving.
From Gizmine. $19.99.
My friend Floyd emailed me this groovy new concept – “California Casual” SeaVees shoes based on vintage Pantone colors. Bit o’green for Spring, anyone? Limited edition.
From SeaVees. $125.
The ubber-cool Mir:ror is a RFID (Radio-frequency identification) device.
Simply pre-define a task on your computer, tag an item with a Ztamp, wave the item across the Mir:ror and the computer performs the task (such as tagging an umbrella and after you wave the tag in front of the Mir:ror, the weather forecast comes up on your computer screen.)
Yet another beautifully executed product offered by Violet.
A wi-fi rabbit (nicknamed Nabaztag, Armenian for “Rabbit”) that handles a variety of cool Internet/computer tasks and occasionally takes time out to do his Tai-Chi exercises? Okay, I’m officially smitten.
Invented by Rafi Haladjian and Olivier Mével.
You simply must visit the Violet site to read more about them and check out their other groovy products. Prices vary.

I must admit that I covet the Playsam line every time I see them – simply gorgeous, sleek, simple wooden toys with a glossy finish. As a frequent traveler, the jetliner is my hands-down favorite (and winner of “Excellent Swedish Design.”) Comes packaged in an elegant black box.

Also available in red & silver metallic
From Moolka. $65.99.

In honor of our President’s first State of the Union address, a nod to a well constructed Obama “action figure”. Props for the nice packaging, too.
From Urban Outfitters. $16.

Teeny, tiny microphone that plugs into the bottom jack of your iPhone. Incredibly useful and a perfect “stocking stuffer” to boot.
I don’t normally comment on shipping costs because they vary so much across the board, but at a $12.90 US price-point and $3 international shipping from Hong Kong, it’s a nice deal. From Brando.

I share my abode with two awesome British shorthair (“Brits”) cats, brothers Jack & Charley, so it was with great interest to have come across this utterly charming plushy of this unique breed. Handmade in Melbourne, Australia by Chelsea.
Check out her other cat (and dog) breeds at her Etsy shop. $16.95.
